		<description>I think we can separate teachers and administrators, they always make a lot more than teachers do, justifiably so with more responsibilities and such. I think the point about teachers&#039; salaries is not whether they are too low, but are they too low in comparison to careers that would require a similar level of education. You ultimately need an MA to maintain a permanent licence. If the pay for a teacher is much less than similar jobs that require an MA, teaching would certainly seem less attractive from that point of view. I would agree that we are not so underpaid. First year teachers with an MA in NYC make 51k. Of course, that&#039;s with the cost of living there. I always think that if I had studied business, finance, or something of that ilk I could probably make a lot more than that. I don&#039;t think I&#039;d put in any more hours either.</description>
